Jake Paul, nicknamed "The Problem Child," has announced his return to the boxing ring on December 15th and he will be facing cruiserweight boxer Andre August in an eight-round fight.

Pundits have previously criticized the YouTuber for fighting opponents who have no experience in boxing. However, this upcoming match against August indicates that Jake Paul is serious about his boxing campaign.

Andre August is Paul's toughest opponent and has a record of 10-1-1 with five knockouts despite not being a known name. August, who went pro in 2013, is considered a traditional boxer and has never fought an opponent who is new to the sport.

Jake Paul will be competing in his ninth professional boxing match, which will also be his final fight of the year. In his previous fight, he faced off against MMA fighter Nate Diaz and won by unanimous decision. Paul currently has a record of 7-1, with his only loss coming from a split decision to Tommy Fury back in February 2023.

Jake Paul vs. Andre August Predictions

Sportsbook Review: Pick August

“Despite his last three fights ending via decision (including the loss to Fury), Paul has scored a knockdown in each of them. Before that, he earned the knockout victory in four of his first five professional fights. These influencer-led bouts generally feature at least one party trying to make a name for himself, and this should be no different. August has done very little promotion ahead of this fight, so it's fair to assume he wants to let his hands do the talking.”

Staff writes: "Jake Paul wants to be taken seriously as a boxer, so he must beat one. He fell short against Tommy Fury, so he reverted to what worked by roughing up a faded MMA legend in Nate Diaz. While Paul is a man of his word, August has been plucked from obscurity to give Paul a token win."

Sporting New: Paul via unanimous decision

Staff writes: "The chin of both men, especially August’s, will be tested. While a Paul knockout is something fans of his expect, the fight going the distance, favoring Paul, seems more realistic. Add a few knockdowns from either side, and fight fans may be in for a wild ride. "

Jake Paul returns to the ring on Friday night as he fights Andre August in Orlando.

It has been a mixed 2023 for Paul, who finally fought Tommy Fury at the start of the year but, in his first bout against a professional boxer, suffered defeat in Saudi Arabia to halt his progress.

The 26-year-old eased to a points victory over former UFC star Nate Diaz in August to get things back on track, and now steps back in with a boxer in the form of cruiserweight August.

The American is 10-1-1 as a professional, but has fought just once in the last four years and the 35-year-old is yet to make a name for himself in the sport.

A win on Friday night would be a big surprise, with Paul a strong favourite to move to 8-1 and set up a rematch with Fury in 2024 or a much-hyped showdown with KSI.

Despite his defeat to Fury, and the fact his wins have come against a succession of MMA fighters, Paul remains adamant he will one day become a world champion.

"I possess the talent, hard work, skill set, all the attributes of a world champion, so I am that already and I'm willing and manifesting the rest into existence to become the world champion," he said.
